Artist Biography: Chicago punks The Mizzerables are hitting the road around the Midwest in October and November. On October 6th, they will be playing their hometown with veteran punks Down By Law as well as Flamingo Nosebleed out of Fort Wayne, IN. On Oct 23rd, they will kick off a weekend of dates in Bloomington, IL, Lafayette, IN, and St Louis, MO. Dan Vapid will be joining them for an acoustic set in St. Louis. On Nov 5th, they will be back in Chicago for a show with Detroit’s Break Anchor and Chicago veterans the Bollweevils for a hometown release party for their As I Am single and video release. They will be closing out November with another string of dates, ending with a show in Detroit for BREAK:HUNGER, lead singer Joe Mizzi’s 501(c)(3) non-profit that helps raise funds and food for food bank and pantry partner organizations in Chicago and Detroit.
The Mizzerables have announced the title of their new album, As I Am. An official release date is still pending; however, the first single from the album, the title track, As I Am, will be released on October 20th along with a teaser video. The single will be available for streaming on the band’s Bandcamp (http://themizzerables.bandcamp.com) and SoundCloud (http://soundcloud.com/themizzerables) sites. The album was recorded with Jeff Dean (The Bomb/All Eyes West/Noise by Numbers) at Million Yen Studios in Chicago. Described as „eclectic,“ As I Am showcases the versatility of the band.

The Mizzerables formed in 2012 after the dissolution of Joe Mizzi’s About the Mess, his first foray back into the punk scene since his stint in Common Rider. Wanting to put together a band that could push the envelope and break the status quo of what a punk band should be, Joe turned to Dave Vazzano, a long-time collaborator, to play drums, and Korey Brisendine, a fellow transplant from Detroit, to play Bass. They released their first album, Every Last Stitch, in 2013 to critical acclaim. DyingScene.com described the album as „From beginning to end, this is the perfect modern punk album.“ In 2015, Pete Mittler, formerly of Naked Raygun, The Methadones, and The Bomb joined the band amidst recording their latest full-length effort, As I Am. After finishing the studio album, the band self-produced a song for the No Stress compilation from Underground Communique Records. The track, titled Fucking Killing It, has become a staple of the band’s set. The Mizzerables love to write catchy hooks, but also throw tasty curves at listeners, playing with genres from hardcore to ska to Americana. They have shared the stage with Bollweevils, Suicide Machines, Mustard Plug and Koffin Kats. Their upcoming album, As I Am, is their most ambitious effort to date and is sure to take the listener on a joy ride.
